JOE LEIH, a filmmaker lauded for his clever storytelling and droll humor, has developed a stellar reputation as a commercial director for clients such as Sony, Hanes, Texas Lottery, and Sierra Mist.
Joe burst on to the advertising scene in 2005 when his PSA for marcandtom.com won a Bronze Lion at the Cannes International Advertising Festival and was a One Show Shortlist. SHOOT magazine featured Joe as one of the top emerging commercial directors in their New Directors Showcase, and SourceECreative singled out Joe as a director to watch.
In 2007, Joe won again at Cannes taking home a Young Directors Award with his spot for Amstel Light, and in 2008 Joe was shortlisted for the AICP MoMa award show. Joe's work has been praised in SHOOT’s “Best Work You May Never See,” 'Board's Magazine, Contagious Magazine, Adcritic, and BestAdsonTV.com. Most recently, Joe was featured as one of the top up and coming directors from across the globe on Shots Magazine's New Directors Reel.
Joe graduated from Columbia University's School of the Arts in New York with an MFA in Film in 2001. His short films have been broadcast on the Sci-Fi Channel, Canal Plus (France and International), TV Tokyo, GAGA (Japan) as well as played at numerous film festivals worldwide. His narrative work has also received several accolades including the Polo Ralph Lauren Audience Choice Award for Best Short Film, the Houston International Film Festival Silver Remi for Comedy Short, and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation's $10,000 Screenwriting Award.
